Trail.Club, LLC Treasure Hunt Contest Official Rules

By participating in the Trail.Club, LLC Treasure Hunt, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules.

1. Eligibility:

  • This contest is open to legal residents of the United States over the age of 18.

  • Employees of Trail.Club, its affiliates, and their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, siblings) are not eligible to participate.

  • Participation constitutes full acceptance of these official rules.

  • No purchase of any kind is necessary to participate.

2. Contest Period:

  • The contest period runs from January 25, 2024, to April 30, 2024.

  • Three separate puzzles will be released:

    • January 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM EST

    • February 24, 2024, at 9:00 AM EST

    • March 23, 2024, at 9:00 AM EST

3. How to Participate:

  • Visit Trail.Club at 9:00 AM EST on each puzzle release date to access the new puzzle.

  • Solve the puzzle to determine the location of the hidden treasure box on a trail within 45 minutes of downtown Grand Rapids.

  • The first person to find the treasure box and claim the treasure coin inside will be declared the winner of that puzzle.

  • Each treasure box will remain discoverable until April 30, 2024.

4. Prize:

  • Each winner will receive:

    • A $1,000 cash prize

    • If two or more people find the prize at the same time, we may but are not required to exercise our right to recognize multiple winners and split the award

  • Instructions for redeeming the treasure coin for the prize will be found inside the treasure box.

5. Winner Determination and Notification:

  • The winner of each puzzle will be the first person to find the treasure box and claim the treasure coin. 

  • Winners will be announced online at https://Trail.Club/

  • The winner will be required to complete and sign a prize claim form and present valid identification.

  • Winners acknowledge that the $1,000 cash prize and any other prize may be considered taxable income and agree to provide Trail.Club with their Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) for tax reporting purposes and to execute any required forms.  Trail.Club may issue a 1099 or other form to each winner reporting the value of any prizes.  Winners are responsible for reporting and paying any taxes due on the prize money based on their individual tax circumstances. Please consult with your tax advisor.

6. Additional Prizes

  • Participants who find the treasure box when the coin is already gone will be eligible to collect a sticker from the box while supplies last.  Those who post a photo with the sticker on Facebook, Instagram, or X (f/k/a Twitter) will automatically be entered for a chance to win additional prizes.

  • Any additional prizes will be drawn and determined in a manner selected by Trail.Club in its sole discretion.  Additional prizes will not include a cash award and will be selected and announced in Trail.Club’s sole discretion.  Trail.Club reserves the right not to award any additional prizes.

  • Winners of any additional prizes will be announced online at https://Trail.Club/

  • All additional prizes must be claimed by contacting Trail.Club by April 30, 2024.  No claims will be valid after that date.

6. General Conditions:

  • All participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Trail.Club, which are final and binding.  Trail.Club reserves the right to amend these Official Rules at any time.

  • Trail.Club reserves the right to disqualify any participant for violation of these Official Rules, any unlawful or fraudulent activity, any conduct deemed unsporting or inappropriate, or for any other reason.

  • Trail.Club is not responsible for any technical difficulties or delays encountered during the contest.

  • Participation in the contest constitutes permission for Trail.Club to use participants' names, likenesses, social media posts, and prize-winning information for promotional purposes without compensation.

  • The prize is non-transferable; prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.

  • Trail.Club reserves the right to cancel the contest at any time.  This contest is void where prohibited by law.

  • These Official Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. By participating in the Trail.Club treasure hunt, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Michigan for any claim, dispute, or cause of action arising out of or relating to your participation in the contest. You agree to waive your right to bring or participate in a class action lawsuit, class-wide arbitration, or any other collective legal action against Trail.Club arising out of or relating to your participation in the contest. You agree that all claims, disputes, or causes of action arising out of or relating to your participation in the contest will be brought and decided on an individual basis exclusively in a court having jurisdiction in Kent County, Michigan.  Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will a participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with participating).

  • If any provision of these Officials Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall be enforced.

  • This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, or any government agency.

7. Safety and Legality:

  • Participants are responsible for their own safety during the contest.

  • Participants must respect all laws and regulations while participating in the contest.

  • Trail.Club is not responsible for any injuries or property damage incurred during the contest.

  • By participating you agree to release and hold harmless Trail.Club and its affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, owners, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from your participation, including but not limited to claims brought by property owners and other participants.
